First They Came for The FLDS ….
And I said nothing because I was not a FLDS.
It is reprehensible to think there is a group that willfully allows what we call statutory rape as one of their God given rights. It is equally onerous to see women so “different” than what our eyes are accustomed to, that it garners comments of “stepford wives” and other equally unpleasant terms as we try to grapple with this.
Unfortunately , in this country we allow heinous groups to coexist peacefully and have for centuries. So the question is why now.
400+ children separated from their mothers while the “perpetrators or “impregnators” are still on the ranch. DNA testing mandated for the children, while none for the men . The whistleblower is a fraud which might rule out criminal charges. The women and children only, were not afforded due process, no papers or notification, taken at gunpoint.
Jeffs, seems to have run afoul with the law as well as his business partners the US Government.
He is in jail. Why not the other men ? Women as far as I know can’t impregnate women. Maybe the men are needed to work. For whom?
While it makes interesting copy, the concern, the Constitutional Rights of the women and children are being violated. The women have not been allowed to have any contact with their children.
Beliefs are on trial. Beliefs that most of us find prepostorous, yet the right to those beliefs are being tested and up until now, had been allowed to continue for decades.
Polygamy is illegal, wouldn’t they need the men to go forward with prosecution?
These women are victims. They need help. They are being treated like criminals. These men who are not in jail are abusers but the women and children are on trial in court and in the court of pubic opinion.
The Texas authorities say they acted in “good faith” . The problem with that is , if they suspected widespread abuse why not round up the entire compound? Why only the women and children? Rumor has it the men offered to leave so that the women and children could return.
There is no one that will disagree that the welfare of the children is paramount, one has to wonder is this truly the motivation or is it a testing of the 1st Amendment? Pick an especially horrendous example of religious freedom and no one will say anything because of course it involves children and abuse.
Well so does pedophilia, Nambla, and a host of other things that are not given any air time. There was one pedophile who admitted he was one and the authorities said as long as there was no proof he was free. Now that seems in direct contrast to not picking up the men who impregnated these children.
I realize the authorities are using the women to flip the men, but then what? Why not round them up, now? These children have now been made temporary wards of the state. Texas is seeking permanent custody of these children. Without a trial?
There was another time in history that children and their mothers were separated…..
If you think there is a conspiracy then I will confirm it. I have been watching this for two years and discovered that every event had a political relationship the to the 2008 election. Every event is connected to the FBI starting with Jeffs introduction to the mainstream media by making the FBI 10 most wanted list. He does not fit the profile of Osama bin Laden or mass murderers on the list. There were NO federal charges to justify that. The wanted posters came out in three waves, each one increasing the reward by $50,000. Who authorized the rewards?
In June 2006 AGs Mark Shurtleff and Terry Goddard issue the 56 page “Primer” to draw the line where they intended to selectively enforce the law and so the FBI intrusion seemed to be the uncontrolled element.
Reports of the Swinton arrest shows she had research papers on the FLDS that detailed family relationships and addresses designed to be a cheat sheet while going through her script of abuse. Do you know that someone made $20,000 bail for Swinton and she is now missing? The sealed court records will implicate whoever is pulling the strings for this entire conspiracy. Swinton was not the prime mover, she had a sponsor. Swinton is a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, pledged to Barack Obama. Could this have been her reward for creating yet another event to discredit Mitt Romney for his LDS affiliation.
This is not about polygamy, child abuse or religion. It is all about national politics. The raid was timed to reinforce negative PR for the selection of McCain’s VP and “NO MITT” advertising campaign against Mitt Romney.
Far fetched? This whole fiasco is far fetched.

Excellent entry.
Yes, there was another time in history when mothers and children were separated.
And misogyny is a defining characteristic of the political modus operandi of that era.

Thank you for your comments.
100 of the children are being placed in foster homes. No due process.

Yes indeed, we in the Bitter Hinterlands are not FLDS either, but we are not stupid. We know government control when we see it.
