On the eve of what could be History I find my self sitting here waiting. I am waiting to see what tomorrow will bring. As I sit I think back to when Kennedy was President , King was marching and for the first time this cynic has hope. I think Obama is the epitome of what cynics like myself have waited for. He embodies all that is good in America. I also find myself hesitant about our future. Where do we as Americans go from here?
Whether he wins or loses do we then try to put his ideas forth? Or has been the case do we relegate his orating skills and plans, hopes and dreams, again, to the dusty bins in the halls of academe?
If he wins, will he get the support needed to move this country, dare I say the world forward? Is it possible, in America, to come together and heal? Can we do that, given our current political climate? I think these are valid concerns.
It is time for a change in America.
Too long have the haves ignored the have nots. It is time we begin to see all Americans not just the ones who make the headlines or have millions, but all of us, you and I have a stake in this election’s outcome. We must all decide where we want to go and what future we will allow our children to inherit.
As I sit here , I dare to hope for a united America. We have had the decider and divider. Isn’t it time we had an uniter in the United States?
